April 2020 – plans approved for demolition of the existing building and the development of 36 affordable homes.

A planning application (ref 2019/02351/FUL) was submitted to demolish an attractive building with a front garden and trees, built by the Samuel Lewis Charity in the 1920s to house single, vulnerable women and replace it with a taller building taking over the whole site.

Planning permission was granted in March 2020 for the development of 36 affordable homes.  http://democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/documents/s112486/Ada%20Lewis%20House.pdf

The Fulham Society was pleased that the building would continue to be used for social housing but we considered the proposed new building was an over-development of the site, did not justify the removal of trees (which are not being replaced) and would detract from rather than add to the character and visual amenities of the Conservation Area.
