Fulham Palace seeks Chair
Fulham Palace is currently looking for a non-executive chair to continue the excellent work of Mariana Spater, outgoing chair. It has been an extraordinary and challenging year due to the pandemic, but there is great potential for the Trust to continue its engaging and innovative work.
Sands End Community Centre
The centre is located in the north-west corner of South Park. It is due to open in summer 2021 but is currently being used as a Coronavirus test centre. It will consist of a purpose-built main community hall, common room, café and outdoor area.
Bishop Porteus Library at Fulham Palace
The renovations to the Bishop Porteous Library at Fulham Palace are complete. The Fulham Society donated the new book security measures, vital as the old wiring was damaging the books and did not work. The library can now welcome visitors knowing the books will be safe and properly conserved.
Water Fountain in South Park
We are delighted that the Fulham Society could help finance the new drinking fountain that has recently been installed in South Park. We particularly liked the facility for filling water bottles.
Archives and Local History Collection
The Archives and Local History Reading Room is located on the first floor of Hammersmith Library, Shepherd’s Bush Road. This is a local history and archives collection which is a valuable resource for researching the area or the history of your street or house.
Fulham Boys School
Fulham Boys’ School moved to its new building on the corner of Fulham Road and Heckfield Place in Spring 2021. Its former site in Mund Street will become affordable housing, as will the old Children’s Home in Farm Lane.
